Muhammad
This week went by really fast, but a lot of crazy and fun things happened!
Monday P-day: It was chill we went to a music shop and played some cool guitars and pianos! Then went to the church and played basketball with some other missionaries. Me and my comp went to B-Dubs after that!
Tuesday: Had a good district council about door etiquette! Then went on an exchange with the elder Dixon a swahili elder. So I basically just followed him all day because I couldn't really say anything. Thankfully our last lesson of the day, the guy spoke pretty good English. I did learn to say, Gina Langu ni mzee Root. Which means my name is Elder Root. I said that to a few people, which was pretty fun!
Wednesday: We knocked a bunch of people today, and found a guy named Sagar! His address was a gas station so it was a little weird going in there, but he actually seemed really cool!
Thursday: We got to wake up a 5am to go help teach a seminary class at 6. The class only has 9 kids in it, but only 5 were there. It was cool to see how devoted some of these kids were to learning about Jesus especially at 6 in the morning. Found an awesome guy named Andrew today! We had a great dinner at some members house. They made us chicken and rice! They didn't want us getting out of our dinner meal routine! Ended the night playing basketball with our ward and somw friends!
Friday: Today was the day! The Swahili elders met this Muslim guy that invited them to go to there mosque, which is basically there church service. And they wanted us to go with them. First we met Muhammad, the pastor or leader of there mosque. The service began with him preaching in Arabic for 30 minutes. He said some of it in English, but it was hard to understand him. Then the prayer part came. All 80ish of the people there lined up and followed the leader in a prayer to Muhammad! It was very interesting to watch. All I want to say about being there, is that I didn't feel the spirit at all! It totally disappeared while we were in there! Then after we went to a soda bar and got free soda because some members own it!
Saturday: I got to watch part of a lacrosse game today, it was so cool! Had a member meal, and they made some delicious enchiladas. Middle of the day we were driving through Appleton and we see people with signs walked to an area. We drive in the direction that they are going, and we find a massive protest going on in the middle of the city, with super music blasting everywhere. Tons of roads were blocked off. It was actually really scary!
Sunday: Today was awesome! We had some new friends pull up to church, and i got to give a 5 minute talk on Matthew 21:1-11. I feel like I did pretty good! Had a good member meal tonight. They made a broccoli casserole, and i was not very excited to eat it, but it honestly tasted way better than I thought and ended up getting seconds!
Weather Report: It was actually really warm this week. Yesterday it got up to 60 degrees. It was awesome!
Spiritual Thought: I invite you all to read Matthew 21:1-11 and look for what the things symbolize! I promise that as you understand what these things mean, that you will be increasingly more grateful for what Jesus Christ did for us!
